Foods to Get Lean - Do You Know What's Keeping You Fat?

Choosing the foods to get lean can be a challenge. Wouldn't it be great if you could identify whatever is keeping you fat? Think of what that would mean! You could simply avoid them and you could be one step closer to eating right so that you could get that lean toned physique you are dreaming of. Did you know that 80% of your success to lose fat is your nutrition? Having the right foods in the home will make it easier to stick to your diet to get leaner faster. So let's look at some foods keeping you fat.

Major Foods You Should Avoid
An average adult in the US gets approximately 67% of their total caloric intake from basically corn, soy and wheat and their derivatives which include
  • Corn oil
  • HFCS (high fructose corn syrup)
  • Soybean oil (hydrogenated or plain refined)
  • Soy protein
  • Refined wheat flour
  • Malt dextrin, corn and wheat starch and soy lecithin
But this high caloric intake (67%) is a major reason for the crisis we have in health, overweight and allergies. Total caloric intake of these 3 foods should be about 1- 4%.
If you ever read the label on the products you buy, you would see that there are very few items that do not contain high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). The sodas and sweetened drinks, salad dressings, ketchup, breads and hundreds of other products all contain the belly-fattening HFCS.
Most of the processed foods on the shelf contain either soybean or corn oil. Think of all the chips, candies, cake, sauces etc. that we consume with these products and their derivatives. Then there are the calories from the breads, cereals, pastas, muffins containing processed wheat that are filled with sugar and very little nutrients.
In addition soy and corn are also used as cheap foods for farm animals, fish and poultry. This further increases the amount of those products that we eat and that end up in our bodies.
What Effect do These Products have on Getting Lean
Why is it so unhealthy to consume 67% of our calories from corn, soy and wheat? Healthy ratio of Omega-6 to omega-3 should be 1:1 - 2:1. Consuming 67% of calories from these create a serious imbalance of a ratio of 30:1. Wow!
This creates health issues with gluten intolerance. This also causes weight gain, blood sugar swings and diabetes. Xenoestrogens, contaminants of pesticide and herbicide residues in these crops also cause stubborn belly fat to increase and a potential for cancer.
How to Take Control Over Your Foods to Get Lean
  • Do not buy processed foods. Everything starts when you go grocery shopping. Pure natural unprocessed foods veggies, fruits, beans, nuts, seeds are best.
  • Buy meats and eggs that are from grass fed and free roaming animals.
  • Organic is best. If you are not able to afford organic, buy the regular foods and soak them in water and vinegar for 10-15 minutes.
  • Get your carbohydrates from fruits and veggies instead of grains.
  • Prepare your own salad dressings. Most salad dressing contains sugar and high fructose corn syrup.
