The True Secret To Weight Loss Motivation

At certain points in their weight loss career (it does seem like a full time job sometimes, doesn't it?), dieters will face a lack of motivation. In order to increase our resolve, it's important to understand the dynamics of what really drives our motivations in the first place.
All human behavior is driven by wants and desires. That's right, I said all. We only ever do that which we WANT to do. In case you disagree, let me prove it's true with a few examples.
One very common example is when a person stays in a job they don't like, year after year. Now you might say, "Aha! There's a perfect example of a person doing what they don't want to do." But if we simply take the time to look a little deeper, we can see that the overriding desire behind their behavior is the desire for security, in the form of money. They don't want to leave their job because they're afraid of what will happen if they do. So in this example, their desire for security is GREATER than their desire to leave their job. The truth is - they want security MORE.
Another example is when we want to stay home and watch our favorite movie, but our friend calls and asks us to drive her to the airport (you can substitute any other "favor" you might have been asked before in this example). We don't know how to say no, so we end up driving her to the airport. We do so because our desire for acceptance, to be liked, or to be seen as a "nice person", wins out over our desire to stay home for a cozy evening in. We want to be liked MORE than we want to spend time doing something we find enjoyable.
The same is absolutely true for losing weight. Of course we want to lose weight. There's no denying that. But the stark reality is that we want that cookie, brownie, or slice of pizza more. Because that food is fulfilling a deep need in our lives. That gives food tremendous power over us, if we want IT more than we want our body to be healthy and fit, doesn't it?
So the real secret to losing weight is to neutralize the power that food holds over us. It's to make our desire for health and vitality GREATER than our desire for a slice of cake. The only way to do that, and to finally lose the weight for good, is to eliminate the subconscious needs that we're trying to fulfill with food. We need to look inside ourselves and do the work in order to patch up the emotional holes we're trying to fill with food. I see people every day who are trying to make up for the love and affection they didn't receive in their childhood by overeating "comfort foods". I help them uncover their need for love and acceptance, and release the anxiety, sadness, anger and self-esteem issues driving their overeating behavior, enabling them to free themselves from their weight issues once and for all.
So ask yourself, "Which motivates me more? Chocolate cake, or health and inner peace?" Because you're always going to choose whichever you want MORE. That's the real secret to weight loss motivation!
