Nourish Your Mind and Feed Your Body - Embracing the Journey

Weight loss and being healthy is so much than watching and calculating every morsel you put into your mouth. Quite frankly it has nothing to do with counting calories, avoiding functions, or working out tirelessly. Like anything else in life it must fit into your lifestyle and ultimately become a lifestyle by design.
When starting out on your health holy grail it's imperative that you align yourself to work with someone who you connect with and believe it. Someone who's been there and done that!! Someone who can light the way & hold you accountable, believe in YOU & be your Biggest Fan.
Here are my 4 Pillars for OVERALL Health & Weight loss:
1) It all STARTS & ENDS HERE... IN THE MIND
I LOVE this quote...
"The mind always fails first, not the body. The secret is to make your body work for you not against you".
It's a life-long process get out there and indulge yourself in your passion - nourish your mind with knowledge, wrap yourself around a book and take yourself on a journey, take a class that has always interested you, volunteer. Did you know that cultivating close relationships increase your longevity and improve your overall wellbeing?
Start your day with a powerful green smoothie!! 1 cup filtered water, 1 cup organic baby spinach, I cup organic strawberries, top off with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice & blend!! Your mind will be in a "Good Place" & thank you all day long with lots of energy & little or no sugar cravings!!
2) Work IT
Weight bearing exercises are the way to go!!! It reduces the risk of osteoporosis and it does wonders in terms of building muscle which is your ticket to fat loss.
3 weight training workouts per week will absolutely be beneficial in terms of increasing your metabolism.
3) Eat to LIVE
Bottom line: No processed foods, ensure your are getting enough lean protein to keep your metabolism spinning & lots of veggies - have you had your rainbow today??? Your plate should be ¾ veggies, ¼ lean, clean protein and a sprinkling of healthy fat.
Bare minimum: remove trans fatty acids, high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils.
4) Spirituality Feeds The Soul
In order to truly evolve we must invest & develop all aspects of our personal life. However, our spirituality is the most fundamental of all of the components. As human beings when we develop spiritually we are much closer to achieving the feeling of completenes which is fundamental for total fulfillment.
Teilhard de Chardin: " We are not human beings on a spiritual journey; we are spiritual beings on a human journey".
Our spirit is manifested by our character - frame of mind, individuality, ambition & drive.
For me spirituality serves as my compass. When in doubt, dealing with life's ups & downs. It keeps me balanced and in check. That's not easy for this fiery sometimes impatient AriesJ The operative word being "Sometimes"
